Woodland Career Exploration Day Returns for Its 7th Year
The Port of Woodland is proud to again partner with Woodland Public Schools for Career Exploration Day at Woodland High School. Now in its seventh year, this event continues to be one of our favorite ways to invest in the future of our community.
This year, more than 40 businesses and organizations joined us on April 24, 2026, giving 400–600 Woodland High School students a hands-on look at trade and skill-based careers — the kind that lead to great livelihoods without requiring a four-year degree.
More Than a Career Fair
Over the years, we’ve worked to align the event more closely with what students are actually interested in. This year, as in 2025, we built the program around the school district’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) platform — giving students direct exposure to careers that connect to what they’re already learning in the classroom.
What makes this event special is the breadth of opportunity on display. A construction company, for example, might also have IT, accounting, mechanics, and skilled maintenance roles under one roof. We worked with each participating business to highlight that full range — the types of jobs available, the training or certifications they require, and what they pay.

None of this happens without the businesses and organizations who show up, engage, and give students a genuine glimpse of what their future could look like — through conversations, cool demonstrations, hands-on gadgets, and yes, plenty of candy.
We are deeply grateful to every partner who devoted their time and talent to this year’s event. We also want to recognize Superintendent Riley and the entire Woodland Public Schools team for their continued collaboration and commitment to making this program more meaningful every year.
We are already looking forward to year eight.
